Made for the GameGrooves 2022 Album Challenge!
One of the most important aspects of VGM album-making, in my opinion, is having a strong theme. I enjoy albums with a something close to a narration, as if you were following a story; or an original approach to the source materiel.
I always aim to do something original when planning my EPs/albums and "This Land of Misery" is exactly that: the world of Pokémon is often shown as something happy and bright. I thought doing the exact opposite – taking its darker elements and making them even more disturbing – would be cool.
I hope people enjoy this dark ride!

This album stands up better than many other instrumental metal albums I run across. The music isn’t just endless chugging and noodling: there are strong, memorable melodies. Ro Panuganti utilizes a wide range of atmospheres and textures to evoke the original mood of the games, and his arrangements are inventive and engaging.

A sheer joyful celebration of musicality & emotion, communicated through catchy-yet-technical prog!
Think Devin Townsend, when he's striking for aspirational & uplifting.
An incredible knack at blending complex executions with heartfelt and tender immediacy. karpsmom
